In commissioning Sparkman & Stephens to design the Tartan 42, such sailing characteristics were given the highest priority. The interior is comfortable not just at anchor but equally in a seaway; the appointments are designed for use and installed securly to remain dependably functional. She has wide, uncluttered decks and easily-handled cutter rig with dual furlers, ample sea berths, storage and tankage for long passages and with its 5’ draft Scheel keel and skeg mounted rudder, is ideally suited for blue water adventures and shallow water cruising.
